Latch Hook Tools

Latch Hook Tools

Many latch hook rug kits will already come with this tool. if not, these can be found for 1 or 2 at your local hobby/craft shop. They are fairly cheap and obviously very useful. I have found that there tends to be a standard size and also a fine size of these tools. The fine sized tool is very useful for canvases with a smaller H.P.I (Holes per Inch).

Health and Safety

Ok, so we are unlikely to get rug making enthusiast's turning up to Hospital with broken or swollen fingers from latch hooking. But on a serious note, if you are spending many hours holding a latch hook tool (often made of plastic) it is fairly important to make sure its comfortable.

There are 2 websites I have found that offer 'customised' latch hook tools.

Paul David Haynes - Woodturner

Paul David Haynes offers latch hook tools (a few of which are shown below) in a variety of woods. These are very affordable and custom made. There are more examples on his website, but if you dont see something you would like, please email Paul for a quote.
